So, we have big news to share with you this week! We are changing the name of our game.
In the seven months since the Vigilante Roleplaying Game was created, it has grown up a lot... and, well, the name no longer fits.
Vigilante was a dark, gritty, urban roleplaying game, about regular humans fighting outside their weight class. It's hyper-realistic and very deadly. It's designed for gritty adventure campaigns, like gunning down crooked politicians or blowing up bridges.
It was a lot of fun, and you can do all that in our game, but our game is so much more.
What Vigilante has grown up into is a storytelling game set against a modern backdrop, focused on normal humans from all walks of life. They are faced with things they may or may not understand, vampires or fae or magic or nothing at all except the cruel things humans can do to one another. We have a game that's about telling stories and evoking feelings, a game which uses terminology borrowed from theatre in order to appeal to folks who are not traditional gamers. We have a game about being human, facing the darkness with friends, and telling a gripping story.
We searched long and hard to find a new name, something which would encapsulate everything we strive to be. And this is what we've come up with: Theatre Noir
We hope you like it.
