Awesomeness in a Handbasket

Wow, things are moving along quickly here in the "Black Hat Offices." I had a wonderful time up in Portland. Unfortunately, the LARP ended up not happening for a variety of reasons, but I ran three (3) games of Vigilante over about 1.5 days, which is, I think, a new record for me. Now I'm angling to get back up there, hopefully for Gamestorm, or at least for another shot at running this LARP in April or May, for a private audience this time. More reliable.

In other exciting news, Vigilante is in the throes of its first major round of revisions. I'm trying to complete them in time for DunDraCon next weekend. I don't think that I'll be able to get in all the revisions I wanted by then, but I should at least be able to get it put together enough to have a solid .pdf to use for the weekend which includes the core revisions, if not all of the additional material I wanted to add. If there is interest, I may do a blog post next week about what exactly the revisions are.

More and more exciting news: Vigilante will be appearing at DunDraCon this weekend. I confess I am a bit worried, because we seem to have been scheduled for 8:00 in the morning on the last day of the Con. I learned (from the failed LARP) that timing and event conflicts can have a very significant effect on how many people being listed in the program can generate for you, so I may have to pound the pavement over the course of the con leading up to my game to try and make sure that the time arrives full of recruits.

The game I'll be running? "The Day The World Died." You play one of a handful of Seattle urbanites sipping their lattes in a corner coffee shop when the end of the world begins.

Last but not least, I want to thank the kind folks who have signed up to run playtest games! I'm sorry I haven't gotten you the .pdf yet; as stated above, it's undergoing major revisions. I'd like to send you the latest version of the rules, and I think they should be ready within a few more days. Hang tight!

For anyone new reading this, if you too would like to sign up to become a playtest GM (gets you a free copy of the rules for life, and puts you on the fast track to becoming a writer with us down the road, if you are so inclined) hop on over to the GM Sign-Up Sheet to get started.

Thanks for all your support, folks! See you next week with updates on how DunDraCon went.
